Community Commitment: Putting Smiles On Children’s Faces 
 The IQ Business Group (IQ) showed what the festive season is really about when the company hosted its annual Festive Tree party in aid of children affected by HIV at the Lipizzaner centre in Kyalami in Johannesburg South Africa.
Children from the Home of the Hope, a children's home in Soweto, as well as orphans who are homed in their communities by the West Rand Veterans Association, were treated to a day filled with fun activities, treats and surprises. "While this time of year is generally associated with joy, peace and goodwill, there are many people who feel more alone than ever during the festive season. The Festive Tree is our way of spreading love and Christmas cheer to children who were orphaned because of HIV," said IQ SA CEO, Donald Stuart. The Festive Tree party was organised and funded by IQ's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) committee, which comprises of IQ employees who volunteer their time to fill a role in one or more of the committee's portfolios, namely Community, Education, Environment, HIV and Animal Welfare. Explains Stuart: "Authentic CSR is not only about financial contributions, it includes dedication of time and energy. While the various portfolios are independently active throughout the year, they all band together to organise the Festive Tree. While the day is meant to be fun and carefree, our aim is to also teach the children about environmental and animal welfare.” In addition to organising and funding the event, IQ employees and their families also attended the festivities, acting as caretakers and running the various activities on offer. This year also saw the introduction of what Stuart hopes will become another IQ Christmas tradition. "As a company we felt that we could do more, so this year the team added a new component. In addition to the Festive Tree party, a group of IQ's DIY enthusiasts went to the children's home and gave it a mini makeover while they were out, giving the children a gift that lasts." IQ has successfully managed and delivered this project for the past three years, and would like to thank everyone involved for their support and sponsorship.
